Skin in the Game

Solo booth installation with Winkleman Gallery at Pulse Art, Miami
December 4-7, 2014

Skin in the Game - installation view
"Skin in the Game" is an update of my 2004 work "Getting to Know the Neighbors". In 2004 I visited and photographed every site listed by the US Environmental Protection Agency as potentially hazardous to my rapidly-gentrifying formerly industrial community of Williamsburg/Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I then created a 100-foot-long handmade accordion book of the photographs that can be seen here.

10 years later in 2014 I revisited and rephotographed all 396 sites. This site-specific installation, created especially for Pulse Miami, displays a grid of 40 of those pairs of images installed in a faux real estate office. In each pair of images, the top photo is from 2014 and the bottom is from 2004.
